One of my favorite summer activities is camping. The Northern Colorado area communities are nestled in the perfect location for some great family camping memories. The best part of camping? You get an amazing vacation for very little money and without a lot of travel. If you live in Fort Collins, Berthoud, Firestone, Frederick, Greeley, Johstown, Longmont, Loveland, Platteville, Wellington, or Windsor, you have numerous great camping options all around-which allows you to also choose just how far from home you want to go, and when kids are involved, that freedom to be close to home is wonderful.

Whenever I greet new Fort Collins real estate clients that will be soon relocating to Northern Colorado from other areas, I quickly find out if they have children-and if so,  I recommend making a trip to The Farm at Lee Martinez Park. Not only do the Loveland CO neighborhoods feature numerous green spaces, parks and recreation facilities, but there are many hiking and rock climbing adventures for every skill level in your family.

Fort Collins Fireworks Shows 2010

It is almost the 4th of July-and it is amazing how quickly the summer is already going by! The Fort Collins is one of my favorite places to celebrate our country’s independence; there is something magical about watching the fireworks illuminate the breathtaking mountains.

Fort Collins Real Estate

Many people who are moving to Northern Colorado may not have experienced the type of 4th of July we celebrate here-and they are in for quite a spectacular show! Many Fort Collins homes for sale offer amazing views of the mountains and valleys-including the city’s firework show at Lake Sheldon. Imagine taking in the all day festivities in Downtown Fort Collins, then later enjoying a cook out on your own deck with neighbors and friends, as you take in the firework show. Just another part of what I love about living in Fort Collins Colorado.

2010 Fort Collins Fireworks

TransFort will be providing free shuttle service on the Fourth to City Park, beginning at 5:30pm with pick up points at Colorado State University’s Towers Parking Lot and the Downtown Transit Center, with return service starting at the conclusion of the firework show. Remember that parking will not be permitted at City Park Pool or City Park Nine Golf Course and parking around City Park’s perimeter will be limited, so using the park n ride system is a great and free option.

Fourth of July 2010 Schedule of Activities

FireKracker 5K

At 8:30 AM: The Tenth annual running of the Ft. Collins Running Club’s FireKracker 5K, features a flat fast 5K course that runs through City Park and onto City streets before finishing at Sheldon Lake in City Park. A kid’s fun run with ribbons for all finishers will be run immediately after the 5K. $20 Pre-registration, $15 Pre-registered Fort Collins Running Club Member & ages 17 and under

30th Annual Old Timer’s Game

At 9:30AM: Enjoy a ball game at the City Park North Ball field -it will be a blast from the past watching these men relive their great memories enjoying the sport that they love.

Fort Collins Foxes vs. Cheyenne Grizzlies

At 1:00 PM: Game is held at City Park South Ball field. Cheer on the Fort Collins Foxes of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. $5/adult; $3/Children (7-14); Children under 6 and active military with ID are admitted for FREE. All fans receive a miniature USA flag.

The Old Town Square Entertainment

From 11:00AM to 6:00PMLive music, a beer garden and good ole American fun are in the square. The events are FREE and open to the public, so bring your blankets, your lawn chairs, your sunscreen and enjoy the sunshine on July 4th Downtown.

Fireworks at City Park

Fireworks begin at dusk (estimated time 9:35 PM) and are shot over Sheldon Lake. Cap off July 4th with a spectacular fireworks show presented by Poudre Valley Health System. Free admission and open to the public. Free TransFort shuttle service will be available to and from the fireworks display from the Downtown Transit Center and CSU Towers Parking Lot to City Park. Shuttle rides begin at 5:30 PM and end at 10:30 PM.

The heat of summer is upon us, and though summers in Fort Collins Colorado are nothing compared to the sticky, humid, sizzling summers found in the deep south, it is still great to find outdoor activities that keep you cool.

Fort Collins whitewater rafting is a perfect activity, as there are rafting rivers that offer different skill and experience levels. Downtown Fort Collins Summer Music Series

Fort Collins Community Summer Music Program

The Fort Collins, CO area is wonderful for family entertainment and outdoor recreation. With summer in full swing, it is now time for the fantastic Fort Collins Music Festival to kick off! Through the beginning of July there will be different music performances, events, entertainment, history and, of course, food!

Fort Collins Real Estate Communities

Located in and around the downtown Fort Collins area, there are many Fort Collins real estate neighborhoods that offer quick access to all the shopping, dining, entertainment and events throughout the year. The upcoming “A Fort Collins Jazz Experience” Music Festival in downtown takes place from July 8-10, featuring a Jazz experience for music, history and workshops.

The week-long Jazz Experience offers jazz related concerts all week long to build up to the Saturday Downtown Sessions with two free continuous jazz jams from local and regional groups. Friday also offers a special jazz art walk and a free concert from the Air Force Falconaires. All day Saturday also features workshops for musicians and students, as well as late night jams sessions.

The free concerts and sessions will take place at The Old Town Square State and Oak Street Plaza Stage.
