Fort Collins Studying the Impact of Bicyclists in the City

I recently read an interesting article that solidified my love for the Northern Colorado area and I’d like to share it with you!

Evidently, the city of Fort Collins is teaming up with Colorado State University to study the economic impact of bikes and the related culture of bicycling on the community.

As many of you know, the Northern Colorado area is renowned for its pedestrian-friendly mentality.

For instance, in 2010, Fort Collins was ranked as the 6th best place to live in the country by Money Magazine.  Two factors the magazine noted as reasoning for the ranking: bikes and beer.

And at one point, the city ranked number 2 for “America’s Top Cities for Bike Commuting: Happier, Too,” which was an article in The Atlantic.

So it makes sense why the city and the local university would want to conduct this study.

Ft. Collins, Colorado: A Great Place to Raise a Family

Be the first to comment on this post

Fort Collins residents will soon be able to enjoy all of the areas major parks without ever leaving the greenway.  A local television station recently announced that the Fossil Creek Trail – which will connect the Cathy Fromme Prairie Natural Area to the Spring Canyon Community Park – is near completion.

Officials say the trail will connect almost seven miles of Spring Creek Trail to about two miles of the Fossil Creek Trail.  Construction will likely begin on April 1 and the trail should be complete in spring or summer.

Relocate to Ft. Collins – Where Family is The Number One Priority

The completion of the trail is no small feat, nor is it particularly inexpensive.  The $1.4 million project was paid for in part by the city’s Natural Areas trail program, Keep Fort Collins Great funds and a Great Outdoors Colorado grant.

The fact that so many local organizations are willing to donate money for the completion of this trail demonstrates the area’s commitment to making Fort Collins a family-friendly community.

That’s the kind of mantra you’ll find all over the Northern Colorado area, where great schools and fantastic recreational amenities are the norm.  If you like what you see in Ft. Collins, I also recommend you check out other comparable communities in the area, including:
